$3 Million To Redevelop Tracy Village Sports Precinct

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government is continuing to develop our sporting infrastructure and in Budget 2024 will invest $3 million redeveloping the Tracy Village Sport Precinct.

This funding will see the facility start the first three stages of redevelopment.

Stage 1 will include Hellenic Athletic Club having a permanent home ground, which will see dedicated football facilities constructed at the site, and provide upgrades to the playing fields and lighting at the Tracy Village Sports Precinct.

The first stage will also include a master plan of the Tracy Village Sports Precinct to facilitate further redevelopment.

Stages 2 and 3 will be completed in coming years, which will include upgrades for other sports including cricket, Aussie Rules, netball and basketball.

As part of the redevelopment, Hellenic AC will use $1.2 million of Federal Government funding secured by Football NT to build female change rooms within Tracy Village.

The Tracy Village Sports Precinct was created as a venue for workers carrying out the clean-up and rebuilding of Darwin following Cyclone Tracy.

Quotes attributable to Chief Minister Eva Lawler:

"Sport is in the fabric of our community. This upgrade will help secure Tracy Village as a top notch sports precinct for the northern suburbs.

"This is the first stage of the redevelopment which will see Hellenic have a permanent home, while a masterplan is prepared for future development of the precinct"

Quotes attributable to Minister for Sport Kate Worden:

"Hellenic AC is one of Darwin's biggest sporting clubs and the Territory Labor Government has now provided a permanent base.

"Hellenic AC is a proud club with 66 years of history in Darwin and around 500 players and members.

"Sporting clubs like Hellenic provide so much to our community. Much more than just a place than a place to play sport. They bring communities together and provide a sense of belonging."
